RNA Conference 2004

In July 2004 I attended the RNA Conference in Leicester, UK. It was an absolute blast! I finally got to meet most of my fabulous on-line writer friends, and met lots of new ones. It was also the one and only time all four Witches have managed to get together - unfortunately, this was before we were the witches! That momentous occasion occurred after Sara and I jetted back Down Under.

Olivia Gates, Nell Dixon, Pat Posner, Amanda Ashby and Me outside our accommodation

There was an inspirational talk on First Time Bliss from First Time Authors - including Dr Ola, aka Olivia Gates. Barbara Taylor Bradford was the keynote speaker and gave a wonderful talk focusing on how her first book, Woman of Substance, came together.

Pat, Rachel and Medicals & ModX Author Kate Hardy

We attended workshops on how to write the dreaded synopsis with Sarah Duncan, discovered what an agent really wants, the importance of the first chapter with Liz Fielding , learnt how to publicise your book, and Mills & Boon Senior Editor Sheila Hodgson discussed what M&B editors are looking for.

Sara Hantz, Nell and Pat

We seemed to spend rather a lot of time drinking in the bar, but it was all writing related (of course!) And then, after we strolled back to our rooms, we sat gossiping and sipping tea until the early hours of the morning. It was a truly wonderful weekend.
